Marvin Stone was born in Columbus, Ohio, on August 3, 1937. He grew up in Bexley, Ohio, where he attended public schools. After premedical studies at Ohio State University (1955 to 1958), he went to the University of Chicago School of Medicine (1958 to 1963).
